Classic chocolate chip cookies

Ingredients

For the Cookies:

1 cup unsalted butter, softened
1 cup granulated sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 large eggs
2 teaspoons vanilla extract

3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
½ teaspoon baking powder
1 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips

Directions

Prepare the Dough:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a large bowl, cream together the butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth.
  • Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla.
  • In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  • Gradually blend the dry ingredients into the creamed mixture.
  • Stir in the chocolate chips by hand using a wooden spoon.
Bake the Cookies:
  • Drop dough by rounded tablespoons onto ungreased cookie sheets.
  • Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are golden brown.
  • Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely
